Learning Services
Branch supports employees and organizational learning, development
and performance. These programs and services are fundamental to building
and sustaining innovation and excellence in the BC
public service.
We
provide programs and services in four main areas:
We
provide ongoing leadership, management and workforce training and
development through a variety of corporate learning programs offered
to employees of all ministries across all regions. Corporate training and development are programs
universally required by employees across the public service. All of
these programs have been incorporated into our Course
Information and Registration System, making it easier than ever
for you to register for training.
For
more information on our programs and service visit our training and
development web site or contact Program
Services, Learning Services.
Through Program Services we offer a broad range of
career
transition services designed to provide support to ministries and
employees affected by workforce adjustment or alternative service
delivery restructuring.
For career transition support contact
Lillian Maiko, Leadership
and Learning Services.
Employee
performance and development planning (EPDP) is one component of a
performance management system. Employees
and their supervisor work in partnership to develop agreed-upon key
work goals, key competency goals and a personal learning plan. The
EPDP process contributes to the public service achieving its
business goals.

Four
government programs exist to recognize and reinforce the
achievements and contributions of employees. Awards and recognition:
-
contribute
to a positive, supportive, improvement-minded work environment;
-
communicate
goals, standards and values;
-
demonstrate
that initiative, creativity, success, and excellence are
important; and
-
create
role models and the opportunity to affirm a sense of community
and shared purpose.
