We offer learning programs and development services for all managers and supervisors in the public service including:

Leadership and Management Development

Do you want to learn innovative leadership and management practices?  Here are some programs to check out.

Leading the Way

A flexible and open learning program to help you develop your leadership and management skills. 

Level 1: Discovering Leadership helps supervisors to make the transition from doing the work to getting the work done through their team.

Level 2: Dynamic Leadership prepares middle managers to transition from directing work teams to interpreting and achieving the business goals of government using leadership and management skills.

Workplace Skills Program

The Workplace Skills program offers courses designed to make the workplace better for everyone – managers, employees and working teams.  These programs are intended to enhance three core areas: teamwork and cooperation; service orientation; and result orientation.

Human Resource Management

In these programs you will learn skills to manage your workplace and while following collective agreements, legislation, and personnel policies and procedures.  Examples of programs you can access are staffing, occupational health and safety, labour relations and employee performance and development.

 

Business Management

Are you interested in honing your skills in business management?  We offer programs that are designed with the public service business environment in mind.  Three broad learning areas include project management, risk management and financial management.

Project Management – this program enhances your skills and abilities and provides practical tools you can use for managing your projects.

Risk Management – these programs teach a structured seven-step methodology, common language, and give you new templates and tools to use on the job.

Financial Management - we offer the Financial Management Certificate program and also have courses that teach you how to:

  • apply accounting and financial administration policies and practices use government financial control and reporting systems
  • create ministry service and risk management plans
  • renew your financial and program management functions, and manage procurement and government contracts

Employee Recognition

There are four corporate innovation, excellence and recognition programs that can be used to recognize employee achievements.  They are:

Premier's Innovation and Excellence Awards Program – this pinnnacle employee recognition event showcases the best examples of innovation and excellence for the public service.

Employee Recognition Program  – taxable awards to a maximum of $2,000 per employee are provided for successful employee suggestions and work process reviews.

Staff Appreciation Awards Program – enables ministries to provide fast, nominal recognition for excellent performance or meritorious actions that bring credit to the organization.

Long Service Awards Program  - provides recognition at Government House for employees who have completed 25, 35 or 40 years of service.

Facilitation Services

Are you looking for help in planning for a business meeting or would like to engage your staff in a problem solving session?  We provide pre-event consultation and delivery of innovative facilitation approaches to promote new ways of thinking to improve your business.  We work with you to support:

  • Planning:  action planning, project planning, business planning.

  • Decision Making:  consensus building, prioritization, options review.

  • Employee Engagement:  collaboration, teambuilding, organization development.
